Hugs and kisses

The hand made quilt was machine stitched and hand quilted for Camilla. It turned out pretty with quilted hearts and leaves. This used the disappearing 4 patch from the blog named Tin Whistle. The complete directions are written up, and there is pictures as well. From start to finish, the design was relatively easy except the hand quilting which was painstaking consuming at least 60 hours. The design for the quilting came from the book 501 Quilting Motifs from quiltmaker magazine. I bought it online from shop martingale because they had both a hard copy and digital file as a package deal. The digital file was used to pick the design, and the hard copy to make a template. I used card stock to draw the design and use for the quilt with a purple vanishing pen. All and all the recipient is very pleased with the heirloom for her little girl.

It turned out pretty good and the recipients loved it. It gets used every day for tummy time!

Hugs and Kisses

The past couple weeks I have changed gears and began sewing a quilt. The top is nearly finished. When RJ saw it, he said the blocks look like a giant X and O. So it has been named Hugs and Kisses for the layout of the disappearing four patch.

I decided on a cute heart and leaf motif. First I had to choose a pattern. I used 501 Quilt Motifs to choose the design. It's a great reference book with a lot of hand quilting designs. This design is fairly simple and was quilted fast. To make the pattern, I used card stock because I didn't want to head towards town for a sheet of plastic.

This project has been ongoing into April and will hopefully get finished quickly after tax time.
